Central Jersey Halloween . Pick Your Own Pumpkins . Hayrides . Corn Mazes

I was born this time of year, so I guess that’s why it’s my favorite season. The landscape explodes with color. Yellow, red, rust and orange replace the shades of green that coated everything  just a few weeks ago. Fields of soybeans turn that wonderful shade of yellow  just before they turn a deep rusty-brown. Leaves fall and make a crunchy colorful carpet on the paths and sidewalks. Yards turn into graveyards with ghosts and witches and spider webs around every corner.

You too can celebrate Halloween by taking the kids out to a local farm this weekend. You might try a corn maze this or a hayride to the pumpkin patch. You might also want to visit a fall festival at one of the farms. They feature everything from pony rides to rubber ducky races and a talking pumpkin.

Here’s my guide to Halloween in Central Jersey. I’ve noted the days that most of the farm markets and stands are open. You should keep it in mind that some pick your own, hayride and corn maze events only operate on the weekends. To confirm details, check the farm’s website or call before you make a long trip. Most of the markets or stands are open every day unless noted. I’ve included every farm, road stand, greenhouse and orchard that I could find. If you notice that I missed one, or got something wrong, please leave a comment below.
