Millville, N.J. (November 12, 2009) – One of the most-asked questions of New Jersey Motorsports Park is how the general public can drive on the 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway. On November 19 and 20, local residents can drive their personal cars, behind the pace car, on-track in exchange for a donation to the Coats For Kids holiday drive.

New Jersey Motorsports Park is currently soliciting donations in advance of the December 11 event that provides select area school children with a new winter coat, gloves or mittens, a hat or scarf, a book and a hot, healthy lunch.

To participate in the laps around Thunderbolt Raceway, local residents may drop off coats, gloves, scarves, hats, mittens and books at New Jersey Motorsports Park between 11 a.m. and noon on November 19 and 20, and then drive the Cumberland County road course.

As required by the Coats For Kids Foundation, all clothing must be new, but can range in size from Youth 2Y to Women’s and Men’s 2X. Books may be gently used.

Additional donations, including monetary donations to New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Green Flag Children’s Charities, may be made at New Jersey Motorsports Park during normal business hours.

In addition to the Coats For Kids program, New Jersey Motorsports Park plays hosts to a number of community fund raising events throughout the year. The world-class motorsports facility also annually hosts the Barbara Cook Run-Ride-Walk For Cancer and this winter hosted a Daytona 500 viewing party that raises funds for the New Jersey Motorsports Park Green Flag Children’s Charities organization associated with the track. Nearly $100,000 has been raised for various charities since New Jersey Motorsports Park opened in July of 2008.
