Melissa Manchester

Grammy Award-winning artist Melissa Manchester got her start as a solo singer/pianist in the clubs of New York’s Greenwich Village where she was discovered and hired by by Bette Midler and Barry Manilow. She recorded her debut album in 1973, co-writing most of her songs with Carol Bayer-Sager and went on to produce her first of many top ten hits, “Midnight Blue” in 1975. Manchester’s career has included collaborations with Stevie Nicks, Kenny Loggins, Beth Nielson Chapman and Keb’ Mo. She has headlined at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall and performed for sold-out audiences across the country. Her compelling singing and songwriting includes smash hit singles Academy Award-nominated movie themes, “Through the Eyes of Love” and “The Promise.” She has combined her acting and singing talents in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Song and Dance and Music of the Night and Stephen Sondheim’s musical masterpiece Sweeney Todd in Los Angeles. This multi-talented artist has also composed for Disney’s The Great Mouse Detective, along with co-writing the score for Lady and the Tramp II. Come hear why she has been honored with the Governor’s Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for her contributions to the music and recording arts.
